Improving The Economics, Beauty &
Sustainability Of Textile Manufacturing

Claims Versus Proven Technology
Textile manufacturing is one of the world’s largest sources of water pollution. The World Bank estimates that 17 to 20 percent of industrial water pollution comes from textile dyeing and treatment. They’ve also identified 72 toxic chemicals in our water solely from textile dyeing, 30 of which cannot be removed. This represents an appalling environmental problem for clothing designers and other textile manufacturers. AirDye® technology specifically addresses these problems by eliminating water at the point of coloration and the toxic chemicals used in dye baths.

As we know, in today’s world, where being green is a business essential, many claims are being made about “eco-friendly” products and processes. It pays to look a bit deeper. AirDye Solutions only makes claims when our products and technologies have been thoroughly researched and independently validated. We conduct Life Cycle Assessment and other studies, and make the results available for review.

The findings of these studies show that the AirDye process significantly reduces the environmental impact of the color application process while improving the use-phase performance of the finished fabric. Because traditional processes require considerable energy to heat the water and dry the fabric, AirDye technology also significantly reduces the energy required at the point of color application.

Additionally, by removing the requirement for water at the point of color application, AirDye technology creates a significant opportunity to localize textile production for regions of the globe that lack the water resources traditional methods require.

As AirDye technology matures, we expect to see additional benefits from increased efficiency in power usage, power source, and the direct application of dye without a carrier.
